LA 레이커스(@lakers)가 2024-2025시즌 동안 선수들 유니폼에 44번 패치를 부착해 제리 웨스트(Jerry West)를 기린다. 9월 11일 구단은 올해 6월 세상을 떠난 웨스트의 등번호 44번을 선수들 왼쪽 어깨에 패치로 부착하고 정규 시즌 경기를 치를 것이라고 발표했다.

제리 웨스트는 1960년부터 1974년까지 레이커스에서 활약하며, 1971-1972시즌 팀을 우승으로 이끌었다. 그의 경기 모습은 NBA 로고의 모델로도 알려져 있으며, 그는 리그 최고의 슈팅 가드 중 한 명으로 평가받는다. 레이커스는 10월 23일 미네소타 팀버울브스와의 개막전에서 웨스트를 추모하는 행사를 가질 예정이다.

The LA Lakers (@lakers) will honor Jerry West by wearing a #44 patch on their uniforms throughout the 2024-2025 season. On September 11, the team announced that players will wear the patch on their left shoulder during regular season games to commemorate West, who passed away in June this year.

Jerry West played for the Lakers from 1960 to 1974, leading the team to a championship in the 1971-1972 season. His image is also known to have inspired the NBA logo, and he is regarded as one of the league’s best shooting guards. The Lakers will hold a tribute for West during their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 23.
